Merchandise and a Contest! Win a ticket to Thotcon!

The link to the Merchandise page is back! For now we’d like to sell our stock of t-shirts from Shmoocon. After those are all gone we are going to work on getting some other kinds of schwag, stuff that you guys will love!

If you’d like to attend Thotcon but don’t have a ticket, we have one to give away! Keep in mind that Thotcon is on April 23rd in Chicago.

Starting now and running until 6PM Eastern on Friday, April 16th anyone who leaves us feedback via iTunes, comments on a blog post will be entered into a drawing. The names will be put onto a spreadsheet in no particular order, and then sorted in reverse. Each name will then have a number in front of it, and we will use random.org in order to randomly select the winner.

You must use the iTunes client to leave feedback in iTunes. If you leave a comment on a blog posting it must not be spam, and it must make some sort of sense, submissions that just go “Hi” or “asdfjkl;” will be disregarded.

SecuraBit T-Shirts are back! Pre-order to pickup at the Podcaster’s Meetup!

We don’t have the final artwork back yet for posting here, however they are similar to the past design with one major exception: We inverted the black and white, so they are white t-shirts with black lettering.

We will have the following quantities:

9 Small
14 Medium
21 Large
21 X-Large
7 XX-Large

The shirts will be $12 each for pickup (you will also get a free sticker!) during Shmoocon at the PCM, or whenever it’s convenient for you throughout the weekend! Anything leftover will be sold via the website later. All proceeds go toward running the show!

In this episode which is likely to be out of sequence. SecuraBit did a recording on the 31st of the year and we will likely release it but episode 18 was a potential lost episode. Chris Mills talks about how twitter has changed some of it’s security measures in the aftermath of the hack on its admin accounts. He even did some testing of a bogus account. We even got into some discussions on which types of phones handle what kind of sites. Please be careful, Jay is going to be getting a twitter account and might actually post. Oh FRAK!!!!

The next part on the agenda was the new Windows 7 Beta. This caused Microsoft to DOS itself. Which really takes a LOT to happen.

After the break we started to go into some tools we actually use or have used and wanted to recommend. Jay spoke of his Retina software they use. We did play a nice practical joke on jay and left him hanging in the wind for a few moments, but he did recover. Spoke about running ISS for the nice pretty reports for the higher up’s and Nessus for the technicians. Anthony mentioned Hot Spot Shield which works on windows, mac, iphone and many other platforms. The chat room recommended Open VPN but none of us had used it. Chris Mills also went into one of the tools he used back in the day but recently started to use again called NTop.
Talked about itunes going DRM free. Always a good thing!!! This then drifted in to a conversation about players in general. Jay recommended engadget.com and how they covered CES so well. This then divulged into computers for kids as well as netbooks.
Anthony is getting close to being able to do the Mix MInus. This means there will be the chance to play the music / voice mails / audio feedback on to everyone so that we can comment or answer the questions. This will be a welcome addition to the show.
Jay stated our new goal – to be “Internet Famous”

Don’t forget to give us a feedback on Itunes so we can bump the old shows off the list.

Defcon 16 and Podcasters’ Meetup Info

If you haven’t already heard about the meetup and are going to Defcon, there will be a meetup on Saturday, August 9th in the skybox which the folks at i-hacked.com reserved. You can find the full information at mubix’s site located here.

While I won’t be attending Defcon, three of our crew will be. Chris Mills, Jay Mueller, and Rob Fuller. Keep an eye out for them as at some point they will likely be wearing their SecuraBit T-Shirts and passing out free stickers. Jay should have a backpack full of t-shirts to sell should you want one. I am sending off the box today to him, so any further donations to the site for them will be filled by him either by shipping it to you or giving it to you in person at Defcon.

Episode 8 will be delayed until the Wednesday after Defcon, though we expect at least one more SecuraByte in the interim.

The t-shirts are in! Thanks to Christine for the hours she put into pulling off the deal! GET THEM HERE! We have a fairly limited quantity (about 40) available, and for a $15 donation we’ll ship one to you! DEFCON 16 is coming up fast, so if you want to be wearing one of our shirts at the event you may want to get one now. Whatever we don’t unload here will be going with Jay and Chris to the conference and who knows how long those will last!
